Elder Care Directory - Every state has an Aging
Services Division dedicated to providing frail
seniors with home and community-based services,
so that they can continue living in their own
homes, instead of having to enter a nursing home.
A
wide range of state assistance programs are
generally available to eligible seniors,
including home health aides and skilled nursing
care, home-delivered meals, help with household
chores, transportation to shopping and medical
appointments, as well as counseling, advocacy and
legal aid.
In
addition to these programs that help senior
citizens directly, many states also offer
caregiver assistance programs that provide family
caregivers with information, counseling, and
respite services.
Family Promise for USA - There are nearly 200
Family Promise Affiliates located in 43 states.
They offer families in crisis professional case
management that includes prevention/diversion,
shelter, and stabilization/housing.
Food Pantry - AmpleHarvest.org helps
millions of backyard gardeners easily find a
local food pantry to which they can donate their
surplus garden produce. If you have come to this
site because you are in need of food assistance
for your family, you may use the tool to look for a
local food pantry.
Homeless Shelter Directory
for USA -
The Homeless Shelter Directory provides Homeless
Shelters and Homeless Service Organizations. This
includes all resources necessary to help the
needy. The directory was created for people who
want to find and donate food and/or supplies to
their local shelter. Volunteer Opportunities are
also needed at most shelters. They have listed
contact information for volunteering at these
shelters. Please call before going to a shelter.
Domestic Violence Help - Find help for all types
of domestic violence.
Substance Abuse Treatment - Find help for you local
area. Confidential and anonymous resource for
locating treatment facilities for mental and
substance use disorders in the United States and
its territories.
